What are you tending to…
Since I became a mom the reality started to really set in, for the longest time it was all about me, even when it came to marriage,
And I wondered why it was so hard…
It wasn’t until we took on this sweet little soul, our first child, that I really began to realize it’s not all about me.
Tend,
When you tend, what do you do?
You are inclined in action, operation, or effect to do something.
So when we talk about marriage here, I was inclined by my selfish desires, to be loved,
sounds normal! aren’t we all?
I acted upon it selfishly, obviously! Tending to my marriage because, it was mine, and it was all about what I needed…
Well that’s when this little boy came along,
The love that changed our lives…
Our oldest child is not biologically ours but, 100 percent our hearts!!
He taught us a very important lesson about tending.
Selfishness, the root of all evil!
Free to argue that, but think about it before you do…
A little seed, we received,
That we must now tend to,
Together,
Being selfish individuals trying to learn how to love each other…
I prayed hard to figure this one out,
And then God sends us this little seed,
This little seed that needed our love and suddenly it became less about me,
Suddenly,
Instead of placing that seed in a pretty pot, to sit in the window, and let the light make it grow, carrying it around, showing it off and controlling it
I needed to get down in the dirt and start tending to that seed,
what I found as I got down in the dirt though was that my roots were very tangled,
How could I help this little seed, Im a mess,
you see we’re not just tending to seeds here,
We are also seeds, or at least we all began that way
I was a flower, a withered flower, trying to teach a fresh seed how to grow,
My roots had dried out,
That’s where God saved me,
With a lot of rain,
He poured his love out all over me,
Tending to a seed that I didn’t even plant in this earth,
He gave me roots again,
And showed me to rely on those roots to grow,
He is a beautiful gardener, just look around,
He knows what goes perfectly together, and right where to put it…
There is this thing called companion planting
It is a practice that expereinced gardeners use, planting certain plants together that have the extraordinary power to help each other grow.
That was what God did in my life, in our life,
We have this garden now, that I feel overjoyed about.
And thats why I thank my wonderful Gardener!!!
Tend,
you are inclined in action, operation, or effect to do something.
What do you Tend to,
yourself,
when it rains do you run?
do you let yourself wither?
Or do you check your roots,
check your heart,
check the seeds that surround you…
If you find yourself being withered,
maybe your should ask your Gardener for some help. I hear he loves to help those who ask,
but don’t run from the rain!
